MSBT Student Ariana Williams Selected as APHL鈥揅DC Fellow

ariana williams headshotFor Ariana Williams, a dedicated student in 黑料吃瓜总站鈥檚 Master of Science in Biotechnology (MSBT) program, the path to public health has always been fueled by a deep commitment to science and community. When she learned she was selected as an approved candidate for the prestigious , it wasn鈥檛 just a career milestone鈥攊t was a powerful validation of her purpose. 

 

鈥淚 feel deeply honored to be one of the few applicants chosen for this opportunity,鈥 Ariana reflects. 鈥淭his fellowship is a chance to sharpen my laboratory skills, work alongside experienced mentors and contribute directly to advancing population health.鈥 

 

The APHL鈥揅DC Fellowship places candidates like Ariana in state or federal public health laboratories, where they collaborate on high-impact projects focused on detecting and responding to health threats. For Ariana, this hands-on experience means more than technical growth 鈥 it鈥檚 an opportunity to develop leadership skills and influence public health practices. 

 

As a Black woman in STEM, Ariana understands the importance of representation in science and public health. 鈥淚 hope to bring perspectives that reflect statistically less prevalent communities and ensure our research and policies are collaborative and driven towards comprehensive excellence,鈥 she says. This fellowship, she believes, is a platform to amplify those voices.
