ϳԹվScores Big With Atlanta Hawks
ATLANTA – March 2, 2015 – ϳԹվ (MSM) scored big with the Atlanta Hawks as part of a special ϳԹվ40th Anniversary event. Nearly 400 ϳԹվfaculty, staff, students, family and friends came out to Philips Arena on Friday, February 27, 2015, to show support for ϳԹվNight with the Hawks. Each person who purchased a ticket to the game through ϳԹվreceived a free t-shirt.
The night began with a pre-game reception, at the Arena, that included music, food and fun. During the game, ϳԹվPresident and Dean Dr. Valerie Montgomery Rice was acknowledged for contributing to black history. She is the first African-American female to lead a free-standing medical school. At halftime, Dr. Montgomery Rice and ϳԹվsecond-year M.D. student Jessica Livsey were invited to come out onto the floor. Livsey even had the opportunity to attempt to shoot the ball from center court.
The eventful day was also deemed “ϳԹվSpirit Day” by ϳԹվleadership. So, on Friday faculty, staff and students were encouraged to wear ϳԹվparaphernalia.
